KNIGHT WATCH
Compiling three shots including two on goal last week, junior midfielder
Adrian Cekala continues to be an offensive presence for ART U. His three shots against Biola and Point Loma tied him for the most shots of any Knight on the week. Cekala's two points is fourth highest for Academy of Art. The points came on a goal against FPU in their previous meeting on
Sept. 17. Freshman
Edvard Edvarsson also collected three shots in the Knight's two most recent games. Edvarsson leads ART U in almost every offensive category including:
goals (1), points (4),
assists (2), and shots (14).
VULCAN -- SON OF JUPITER
The UH Hilo Vulcans are experiencing a bit of a rough patch as they come into their game against Academy of Art on a six game losing streak. Their record stands at 1-6 with their only win coming in the first game of the season, defeating Western Washington 1-0. The Vulcans are 0-2 in conference play with loses coming from Azusa Pacific by a score of 2-4 and most recently a loss to Dominican 1-0. Matt Wilkinson has been outstanding for the Vulcans scoring a team leading four goals for eight points. Academy of Art hopes to continue their recent success against UH Hilo who they have defeated in their last four meetings contributing to an all-time record of 5-6. Last time the teams met the match was ended on a golden goal coming from the Knights in the second overtime period to extend their winning streak over the Vulcans.
SUNBIRDS FLYING HIGH
Fresno Pacific has enjoyed a very successful 2018 season thus far with a record of 5-1-1 including some big time wins such as their 2-1 victory over a No. 4 ranked Cal Poly Pomona and a 7-0 blowout against UC Santa Cruz. The Sunbirds PacWest record is 2-1 with wins against Point Loma and Dominican. Their sole loss came from Concordia Sept. 20 by a final score of 3-1. FPU boasts the second highest point scorer in the PacWest conference -- Anthony Velarde. Velarde has collected a staggering five goals and a PacWest leading nine assists. His 1.13 assists per game ranks him first in the nation for NCAA DII schools.

In an eventful day where student-athletes from all sports came to support Academy of Art men's soccer, a pre-season PacWest favorite Point Loma overcame being outshot in the second half to defeat the
Urban Knights 3-0.
