2018 Hillsdale Wide Track Classic Results
HILLSDALE, Mich. – On the second and final day of the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic, Academy of Art University Track & Field turned in several strong efforts including a pair of season-bests in the 60m hurdles from
Marion Presigny, another program record by
Rabah Houali in the 800m, and provisionals from
Swann Phelippeau (mile) and
Beatriz Martinez Mercado (800m).
In the 60mH semifinals, Presigny finished third of 18, qualifying for the finals, but also breaking through for a NCAA Nationals provisional mark. She would follow that up with a better time in the finals, dropping to an 8.67 that would put her close to the top 10 in NCAA Division II.
Houali was strong in the 800m back inside the Dempsey Indoor, winning the Championship section with a 1:54.68 that converted to a new ART U record 1:53.07. He rises to 23rd in the country in the event.
Mobolade Ajomale continued to dominate the 60m, going 6.74 to lead all 17 semifinalists then winning the final with a 6.75.
Phelippeau showed improvement from her previous mile with a drop to 4:57.53 (converted from 5:00.47 for track size) which put her third of 13 on the day and further up to 24th in the provisional ranks.
In the women's 800m, Martinez Mercado produced a time of 2:14.04 (converted from 2:15.58 for track size) to place third of nine in the event and just outside the top 20 in the country with the NCAA provisional.

The men's mile was won by
Gatien Airiau with his 4:14.95 which converted to the second-fastest time in program history at 4:11.74. He is only fractions of a second out of the provisional qualifiers.
In the women's 60m semifinals, both
Rian Young-Werner and
Jasmine Grace dropped their times from the previous day (7.93 and 7.94 respectively), but did not reach the finals.
Academy of Art next makes its third and final appearance at the Dempsey Indoor next weekend for the Husky Classic (Feb. 9-10) and the UW Indoor Open (Feb. 11).
