Otter Invitational Final Results
SEASIDE, Calif. – Led by 2018 PacWest Golfer and Freshman of the Year turned sophomore
Anahi Servin's top finish, Academy of Art women's golf exited Cal State Monterey Bay's Otter Fall Invitational in second place overall at the Corral de Tierra Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.
"I was very proud of the way the team played and prepared for this event," said head coach
Mitch Lowe. "Being so close to the start of classes and having a new coach, the team made no excuses and focused very well."
Matching her 71 (-1) from the day prior (the second-lowest by any student-athlete on day two), Servin completed the tournament with a final score of 142 (71-71) to depart two under, topping all 52 other competitors. The next closest finisher was West Texas A&M's Jelina Fernando who shot a two-day total of 147 (71-76).
Junior
Elan Hawkins joined Servin among the tourney's top 10, improving from day one to end eighth overall with a 152 (77-75). She was closely followed by
Han-Chuan "Vicky" Kuo's 154 (76-78) which tied for 11th place. Sophomore
Iveta Posledni rounded out the Urban Knights' top four in a tie for 27th, shooting a 162 (81-81) over the two days.
As a team, ART U claimed second place (610) behind tournament-winner West Texas A&M (593) and ahead of Rogers State (621) as well as Holy Names (625).
"We had great performances by Anahi, Elan, and Vicky," said Lowe. "IÂ look forward to some really outstanding team performances this year."
For its second tournament of the fall season, Academy of Art will travel to Hurricane, Utah for the Dixie State Fall Invitational on Oct. 1-2.
