2019 SF State & Academy of Art Dual Meet Results
SAN FRANCISCO – Braving a rainy afternoon out at Cox Stadium, Academy of Art went one-on-one with their local counterpart SF State in a dual meet on Friday. The distance crew shined and many Urban Knights challenged one another in the sprint events as some impressive performances emerged out of the wet track conditions.

Looking comfortable and in control for the entire race,
Giulia McIsaac was very strong in the 3000m, setting an ART U record with her time of 10:32.65. She would better McKaela Christenson's 2015 mark by nearly four seconds.
Audrey Rosencrans fought through water from above as well as below in the first 3000m steeplechase of her career. After building a lead on her SF State opponent much like McIsaac would do later in the day, Rosencrans crossed the finish line at 11:51.83 for the second-fastest time in program history and a top 25 mark in NCAA Division II thus far.
The highlight of the jumps at the start of the meet,
Daquan Berry cleared 5-10.75 (1.80m) amid very heavy rain at that point in the afternoon. His collegiate debut height put him fifth all-time in Academy of Art history.
In a women's 100m race that featured six Urban Knights lined up alongside one another, Ombretta Minkue Meye placed first with a time of 12.10. She was followed closely by
Darria Matthias and
Hava Turner in third and fourth respectively.
That trio would also join
Selena Arjona-Alcazar in a the 4x100m where ART U combined to go 47.41, less than one second off of Nationals provisional qualification. The mark slotted them in at 11th in the country thus far.

Another event loaded with Urban Knights was the men's 800m which saw
Christian Carter lead a quartet of Academy of Art runners out of eight overall. His first time contesting the event had him at 1:55.49 (top 30 in DII) followed by
Joshua Browne (1:55.95),
Charlie Messai (1:56.97), and
Hudson Lockette (1:59.07).
The day's final event for ART U was the men's 3000m and, in a closely contested race throughout, Markus Anderson-Deakin prevailed with the fifth-fastest time in Academy of Art history at 8:59.83.
Close battles between fellow Urban Knights came in the men's 100m where
Grant Swinton (11.34) and Berry (11.38) were separated by 0.04 as well as the men's 200m which had
Kaze Poitier (23.57) barely get in front of
Ashony Williams (23.72) for the win. Poitier would also win the 400m which featured two of his teammates.
A busy three days of action is on the way for Academy of Art who is set to split its group across two meets including the Pepsi Florida Relays (Mar. 28-30) and SF State's Mike Fanelli Track Classic at Chabot College (Mar. 28-30).
