2019 Mike Fanelli Track Classic (Day 1)
Competing on both the East and West Coasts, Academy of Art track & field began its first of three days day in both the Pepsi Florida Relays and Mike Fanelli Track Classic.
GAINSVILLE, Fla. – The Urban Knights got started in the Pepsi Florida Relays with 200m races on both the men's and women's side.
The women's 200m saw
Ombretta Picciolie Minkue Meye post the fastest NCAA Division II time of the season at 24.09. It was a Nationals provisional qualifier, third-fastest in program history, and had her 25th of 116 on the day. Season-bests also came from
Selena Arjona-Alcazar (24.53) and
Allysia Parry (24.87).
In the men's 200m,
Grant Swinton was the top finisher from Academy of Art, taking 47th of 119 total competitors with a season-best time of 21.37. He wound up just 0.01 off of Nationals provisional qualification.
HAYWARD, Calif. – Starting the Mike Fanelli Track Classic at Chabot College was
Audrey Rosencrans in the 3000m steeplechase.
In just her second time running the event in her career, Rosencrans posted a season-best 11:40.94. She would remain second in program history, but ended up slightly over a second behind ART U record-holder
Madeline Dignadice (11:39.79).
ART U will return to both James G. Pressly Stadium and Chabot College for day two of the Pepsi Florida Relays and Mike Fanelli Track Classic tomorrow.
