Sonoma State Spring Invitational Final Results
SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- Freshman Nattavadee "Baipor" Khunsri has won the Sonoma State Spring Invitational. Khunsri splits the individual title with Alli Kim and Shantel Antonio, after shooting a 74 (+2) in the second round, Tuesday at Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club, to end with a cumulative score of 148. This is her first tournament win and a huge improvement from her prior career best placement of 23rd. As a team the Urban Knights end their regular season with a total of four runner-up honors and a third place finish for the best spring in Academy of Art women's golf program history.
"We are all very proud of Baipor," said head coach
Mitch Lowe. "She showed signs of starting to play really well last week in Arizona and proved it this week under some very difficult conditions. She got her good putting back which has been giving her trouble the past couple of weeks."
Behind Khunsri was sophomore
Anahi Servin who finished tied for fifth with a round two score of 82 (+10). In 25th was junior
Han-Chuan "Vicky" Kuo, who led the entire field of golfers with five birdies and fired an 83 (+11) on the final day for a cumulative score of 158. The final ART U scoring postion belonged to sophomoreÂ
Iveta Posledni who with a round two score of 79 (+7) tied for 32nd.
"There were some very difficult conditions on the course today," commented Lowe. "Everyone on the team stayed tough, didn't give up, and gave the best performance they could. It's nice to know that even when we don't have our best games going we can still be close to the lead. We have a week and a half to prepare for conference championships and I know we will be ready."
After ending its regular season play on a high-note, the Urban Knights turn their attention to the PacWest Conference Championship beginning Monday, April 22 at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
