2019 Portland Twilight Results
PORTLAND, Ore. – Inside Grisworld Stadium for Lewis & Clark College's Portland Twilight on Friday, Academy of Art track & field's three-part contingent contested 1500m races with
Hasna Kaarour emerging with a new program record and NCAA Division II Nationals provisional qualification.
Contending primarily with NCAA DI talent in her heat of the 1500m, Kaarour bettered her lifetime-best from the PacWest Championships by more than a full second with a 4:30.05 in Portland. She had come just 0.03 from record-holder
Jenny Bergren's 2013 time of 4:31.03 with the mark at conference only to solidify her No. 1 spot on the Urban Knights' all-time list with Friday's mark. Kaarour's time, which was 13th of 47 in the event, puts her 22nd in DII thus far.
The men's 1500m saw
Freddie Hessian and
Charlie Messai both finish among the top 20 in a 76-man field. Hessian led the way in 13th with a time of 3:50.70 13 while Messai took 19th, clocking in at 3:53.43.
Now with one final weekend remaining before Outdoor Nationals, ART U returns to the site of the PacWest Championships for the Azusa Pacific Twilight & Multi (May 9-10) followed by the Oxy Invitational on May 11.
