2019 ITA NCAA Division II All-Americans
TEMPE, Ariz. -- For the second time in
as many years, the trio of seniors
Alma Thell-Lenntorp,
Klara Thell-Lenntorp, and
Monika Stanikova were selected as All-Americans by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The Thell-Lenntorp twins were named doubles All-Americans, while Stanikova was selected as a singles All-American.
The criteria for ITA All-America honors include finishing the season in the top 20 of the Oracle/ITA singles rankings and top 10 in the final Oracle/ITA doubles rankings. The twins met such criteria by finishing as the No. 5 ranked doubles team in the nation and Stanikova as the No. 16 singles player.
"Klara, Monika, and Alma had a strong impact in our program and it is fitting they are recipients of this award," said head coach
Clarisse Baca. "Being an All-American is truly something special and these three seniors are a true example of what it means to be an All-American."
Stanikova played exclusively at the No. 1 singles position and went 3-1, including wins over the No. 15 and No. 20 nationally ranked players in the country. Stanikova's season was cut short due to injury, but she never left the top 20 rankings and earned
All-PacWest First Team honors on April 17.
The Thell-Lenntorp duo had a tremendous season, going 16-3 with four wins over nationally ranked opponents, including a win over the No. 1 doubles team on
March 8. That win sent their rank to No. 1 and contributed to Klara breaking the ART U career doubles record. At the end of the season the twins were awarded
All-PacWest First Team doubles, their third such honor.Â
