PacWest Weekly Awards (Apr. 19)

IRVINE, Calif. – Thanks to a pair of wins during ART U's victory over No. 24 Fresno Pacific in their season finale, Academy of Art women's tennis sophomore Yun "Nicole" Shiau has been recognized as the Pacific West Conference Player of the Week for the first time in her career. The award is for matches played from Apr. 11-18. 

In the final tune-up before the PacWest Championships begin on Wednesday, Shiau helped the Urban Knights to a 4-3 victory over the Sunbirds, beginning in doubles play along with partner Sofia Ragona. The sophomore duo earned their fourth victory on the season as a team by bouncing the pair of Lea Falentin and Mariia Borodii from the No. 1 position, 6-4. To end her day, Shiau picked up a straight set victory over Borodii from court two, 7-5, 6-3, securing the team win in the process. 

It's the second time this year that an Urban Knights has been honored as the PacWest Player of the Week, joining Sofia Ragona who earned the award on Mar. 22.
