KNIGHT WATCH
ART U is still searching for its first win of the season, but has seen a change in the ART U record books thanks to senior forward
Adrian Cekala, who has tied both the ART U career records for points and goals. The change came after he netted his second penalty kick goal of the season, his fourth consecutive penalty kick conversion dating back to last season, marking the 16th goal of his career and tying him with
Grimur Grimsson. Meanwhile, with a team-high five points on the season, Cekala's now boasts 37 points in his career, this time tying him with
Kristof Urbanyi atop the ART U list. His 12 shots and eight shots on goals are both leading ART U, while the shots on goal also lead the PacWest. Thus far in four matches, junior goalkeeper
Davis King has posted 15 saves on 64 shots faced, and has a 2.92 goals against average.
INVADING THE HAWKS NEST
Fresh off of a 2-1 victory over Chico Sate, Holy Names enters the non-conference battle with a 2-2 record, with the other win coming in a come-from-behind 5-4 effort against Stanislaus State in the season opener. In between the wins was a pair of losses, first by a 2-1 margin to Cal State East Bay before being shutout 3-0 by Humboldt State. Pablo Ramirez enters as the leading scorer with five points thanks to a pair of goals and an assist, while just behind him with two goals (four points) of his own is Elio Corral. Owning a 2-2-0 record in goal for the Hawks is Rasmus Nielsen, who has posted a .500 save percentage with a 2.50 goals against average in over 350 minutes logged.
CEKALA TIES ART U RECORDS IN LOSS TO OTTERS
Though Academy of Art men's soccer senior forward
Adrian Cekala was able to tie both the ART U career points and goals records on a penalty kick, the Knights could not walk away victorious in their home opener, falling to Cal State Monterey Bay by a final of 5-1.
LOOKING AHEAD
PacWest play is upon the Knights, who begin the season on the road in Southern California to battle Biola on Sept. 30 before jousting with Point Loma on Oct. 2.
