First Round At Palm Valley Classic Sees ART U 18th

2022 RJGA Palm Valley Classic (First Round)

GOODYEAR, Ariz. –
It is a crowded field at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic at Palm Valley Golf Club and, after the first round of action, Academy of Art women's golf finds itself right in the middle of the teams tied for 18th place at a combined 26-over-par 214. 

Out in front for the Urban Knights is the duo of sophomore Jae Eun Park and freshman Napat "Plern" Rattanaprakarn, as the two are in a tie for 49th place after they each carded a 5-over-par 77 with a pair of birdies for Rattanaprakarn while Park totaled one of her own. Rounding out the scoring was another pair of tied teammates in a share of 84th place, as junior Anahi Servin and freshman Tessa Geenen each turned in an 8-over-par 85 with a birdie, with Geenen's coming on the 18th hole while Servin dropped hers on Hole 10. 

Leading the team portion of the competition is Cal State Monterey Bay, as they were the only school to shoot in the red at a combined 1-under-par 287. There was a tie for the top individual finisher at 4-under-par 68, the first being Isabel Carpenter of CSUMB while the other was Gam Songprasert of West Texas A&M. Dominican is currently the top Pacific West Conference team in the tournament in a tie for seventh at 15-over-par, just 11 strokes in front of the Knights. 

The RJGA Palm Valley Classic wraps up on Saturday with round two at 7:30 a.m. from the Palm Valley Golf Club.
