Servin Captures First Win Of Spring At Desert Invite

2022 West Texas A&M Desert Invite (Final Results)

TUSCON, Ariz. –
For the first time in the spring season and the third time in the 2021-22 campaign Academy of Art women's golf junior Anahi Servin has captured an individual championship, as she placed first at the West Texas A&M Desert Invitational on Tuesday with a final score of 2-under-par 142. Meanwhile, ART U ended ninth as a team with a combined score of 59-over-par 635. 

This tournament victory marks the 13th in Servin's career, as she was steady throughout the round while dropping a birdie en route to carding a 1-over-par 73 in the final round en route to winning by three strokes. Her five total birdies in the tournament were tied for fifth most in the field along with teammate, freshman Napat "Plern" Rattanaprakarn, who ended as the third best finisher on ART U in a tie for 52nd place at 20-over-par 164. Sitting in the middle of the two was sophomore Jae Eun Park, who tied for 34th place at 15-over-par 159. 

Though they began the day in second place, the Urban Knights would finish in ninth as a team, falling behind Biola who would finish as the top Pacific West Conference team in third place with a final score of 41-over-par 617. Running away with the team championship was host school West Texas A&M, closing out the tournament at 14-over-par 590 to dominate the field by 28 strokes. 

With the regular season now having concluded, ART U is on to the PacWest Championship Tournament as the Urban Knights get set to battle the rest of the conference in Arizona beginning on Apr. 18.
