2022 Brutus Hamilton Invitational Results

BERKELEY, Calif. – In action at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational hosted by Cal inside Edwards Stadium on Saturday, Academy of Art track & field walked away with multiple NCAA Division II Outdoor Nationals provisional qualifying marks highlighted by Marie-Jeanne Ourega in multiple events and Yacouba Gnacko in the triple jump.

Ourega began the day by bettering her personal record in the 100m hurdles, going 13.67 to assume the second spot in NCAA DII and second in a predominantly DI field. Contending with the 15-jumper field's top three from the outset, the Communications & Media Technologies major offered her best triple jump distance of the day and season, 40-5 (12.32m), on her fourth attempt. The Outdoor Nationals provisional qualification took her up to seventh in the nation. Additionally, in her first 100m of her ART U career, Ourega placed in the event's upper tier with a 12.25 mark.

Improving over a foot on his first distance competing in the triple jump last month at Stanford, Gnacko delivered a 49-7 (15.11m) in his third attempt. The best mark of the day, it brought him ever closer to the program's top four distances and elevated the Industrial Design major into the top five in the country. 

In the first 5000m event of her career, Natalia Novak stepped into the third position in Academy of Art history at 17:20.40, finishing second of nine on the day.

Elijah Roberts gained sole possession of second in program history after clearing a 6-6 (1.98m) bar in the high jump to tie for Saturday's lead with two other jumpers from two others from Cal.

A busy trip to Southern California awaits ART U this coming week as the Urban Knights will be in action at both the Mt. SAC Relays (Apr. 14-16) and Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational (Apr. 14-15).
