2023 Sonoma State Fall Invitational (Full Results)
SANTA ROSA, Calif. – Academy of Art women's golf jumped up in the final round to end the tournament in fifth place in the Sonoma State Fall Invitational at the Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club on Tuesday. ART U finished at a 29-over par 605 beating fellow Pacific West Conference competitors like Point Loma, Dominican, and Westmont, along with Menlo and Chico State.
Beginning the day on the edge of the top 30, graduate student Jae Eun Park climbed 17 spots to finish the tournament tied for 11th while shooting a 5-over-par 149, going even on the day with her second-round 72. Park tied for the third-best score in the final round of the tournament, only behind Noelle Thompson of Westmont (1-under-par 71), a top-nine finisher overall, and the winner of the event, Madison Murr of Cal State San Marcos (4-under-par 68).
Also finishing in the top 20 as she climbed eight spots on the day for the Urban Knights was sophomore Nicole Yang, tying her best score of last season as she shot an 8-over-par 152. Not far behind, freshman Chantel Tsai also recorded a top-30 finish, taking 28th as she shot 10-over-par 154. Academy of Art had the second best collection of a single school's three best golfers within the Pacific West Conference at this tournament, only behind Hawai'i Pacific.
Climbing 16 spots compared to her first round, senior Tessa Geenen shot a 15-over-par 159 while senior Napat "Plern" Rattanaprakarn concluded the scoring for the Knights shooting a 19-over-par 163.
The next stop for ART U is the Westmont Invitational, as they tee off for the first round from the Sandpiper Golf Course in Goleta, Calif. on Monday, Oct. 9.
