TWO-MATCH SOCAL ROAD TRIP 
After winning back-to-back matches at home, Academy of Art travels down to Southern California, starting with Concordia on Saturday. Two days later, the Urban Knights will travel over to Azusa Pacific to challenge the Cougars.

KICKOFF
ART U kicks off on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 3:30 p.m. against Concordia and the following Monday, Oct. 9 at 5 p.m. against Azusa Pacific. KNIGHT WATCH
Senior midfielder/forward Gilly Miller is coming off a career week, scoring eight points through three matches with his two goals and four assists, breaking the record for most assists in a career by an Urban Knight, and being named the Pacific West Conference Player of the Week, all in the matter of seven days. With Miller's performance last week, he now ranks himself within the PacWest in points per game (1st) and in total assists (tied 2nd). Junior forward Alejandro Palos had five points of his own last week, scoring two goals and tacking on an assist. Palos is now currently ranked in the PacWest in shots on goal (4th) and in total shots (6th). Palos and Miller are now tied for first on ART U for the most points by an individual player (8). Freshman midfielder Joey Glaab, ranked third on ART U in points (6), has continued his streak playing in every minute on the year so far through 11 matches (990). Freshman goalkeeper Ronaldo Gutierrez has already made a huge impact for the Knights, coming out with two victories in his first career starts against Chaminade and Hawai'i Pacific last week. The Knights currently sit at fifth place in the PacWest Conference standings.

ELIMINATING THE EAGLES
Concordia currently holds a 1-6-0 overall record and an 0-2-0 conference record. The Golden Eagles started their season with four straight losses before beating Azusa Pacific 1-0 in non-conference action. CUI then began their PacWest play at home against Point Loma and Biola, losing both in one-goal deficits. Anthony Morales is the team's points leader (7), with his three goals and one assist through his six matches. Tyler Oakson and Morales are the pair that have the most shots for the Golden Eagles on the year, with their 29 shots collectively featuring 11 on target. Andre Flores will be the man in goal, playing all 630 minutes for Concordia, as he's racked up 27 saves on 105 shots faced with a 2.43 goals against average. CUI is 6-1 all-time against Academy of Art and won their most recent meeting on Nov. 5, 2022. 

CHALLENGING THE COUGARS
Azusa Pacific started their 2023 campaign 1-5-2 and 0-1-0 in conference and are set to challenge Dominican before facing Academy of Art. The Cougars started the season with a tie against a ranked opponent, stalemating a scoreless draw with No. 10 Cal State Dominguez Hills and then dropping their match to Regis at home. The Cougars' lone win of their season came against Stanislaus State as they emerged victorious 3-2. APU would go on to lose three straight before a tie with Westmont, and then fell to Concordia 2-0 to begin their PacWest play. Having not scored a goal since their match against Stanislaus State on Sept. 7, the Cougars have had five all season, with their leader in points being Issaka Salifu (3). Out of the five goals the Cougars have scored, all of them have been from a different player with not one player scoring twice. Leo Moreno will be in goal for APU and has already given up 14 goals through his seven matches played, allowing two per match on average through 84 shots faced this season. Academy of Art is 2-7-1 against the Cougars all-time, and tied their last match 1-1 on Oct. 8, 2022.

ACADEMY OF ART WINS AGAIN, BESTS SHARKS 3-2
Academy of Art men's soccer captured their second straight PacWest matchup in a 3-2 win over Hawai'i Pacific at CCSF Soccer Field last Saturday.

LOOKING AHEAD
After their matches against Concordia and Azusa Pacific, Academy of Art will look ahead to hosting Fresno Pacific on Oct. 14 for Senior Day, before finishing off their season with a four-game road trip.
