2023 All-PacWest Teams

IRVINE, Calif. –
Academy of Art men's soccer tallied up two postseason honors with senior Gilly Miller at the forward position and freshman Joey Glaab as a midfielder. Following a campaign in which one set numerous ART U all-time career records and the other now second for most goals by a freshman in an Urban Knight uniform, the pair finished their 2023 campaign by being named to the All-PacWest Second Team as announced by the Pacific West Conference on Wednesday.

Gilly MillerThis is the third year that Miller has received an All-PacWest Team award, a new ART U record. This season, Miller also set the record for most all-time points by an individual Urban Knight (49), as well as set the record for the most assists (15). Miller recorded six assists this year, while tacking on three goals, totaling 12 points. The midfielder/forward will go down as one of the greatest players in ART U men's soccer history with his accomplishments, as he rewrote the record books being also ranked second in career goals (17), and residing among leaders in every scoring category tracked.

"I'm really proud of Gilly and all his personal achievements on and off the field throughout his time with us here at ART U," said Head Coach Danny Kirkland. "He's been a model example of a student-athlete and an example that the younger guys in our group should be looking up to."

Miller was awarded as Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 25 - Oct. 1 for recording eight points during the time frame. Contributing to two wins during that week with victories over Chaminade on Sept. 28 and Hawai'i Pacific on Sept. 30, Miller's eight points included two goals collected from awarded penalty kicks, and four assists sent to three different Urban Knights.

Joining this Academy of Art squad in 2023, Glaab made his impact known in his first collegiate season. The midfielder scored a team-high six goals (eighth in PacWest, second among freshmen) with one being a game-winner. A .684 shot on goal percentage was recorded on the year, as 13 of his 19 total attempts were on frame. Glaab also led the Knights in total minutes (1,532), recording 15 full matches played.

Joey Glaab"Joey has made a great start to life at ART U and in the PacWest," Kirkland said. "He has a tremendous attitude and shows great desire to push himself to be better on a daily basis. Earning recognition on the All-PacWest Second Team is an accomplishment Joey should be proud of, and I look forward to watching him improve come next fall."

Of Glaab's six goals, four came from two-score efforts. In just his third career match, Glaab netted two scores in a come-from-behind tie against a Dominican Penguin team that finished fourth in the conference. Down 2-0 in the match at one point, Glaab went on to score back-to-back to bring the Knights back into it on Sept. 7. In ART U's last match of the season, the Knights went on to win 3-0 against the Biola Eagles on Nov. 4 from another stellar performance from Glaab as he recorded goals in each half.

This is the fourth consecutive year that at least one Urban Knight has been named to an All-PacWest Team, a new ART U record for the program.
