USTFCCCA National Athletes of the Week (May 2)

Robin BlackNEW ORLEANS -- After scoring more than 28 points at the Pacific West Conference Championships, newly-minted three-time PacWest Champion Robin Black was named NCAA Division II National Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Tuesday.

Black earned PacWest Most Outstanding Men's Track Athlete of the Meet honors on Apr. 29 following individual victories in the 100m dash and 400m hurdles while also contributing to the team's 4x100m relay championship and scoring points in the 200m and 110m hurdles.

Among Black's meet highlights was a 10.17 in the 100m prelims on Apr. 28 that put him sixth in NCAA Division II this season, second only to Hall of Famer Mobolade Ajomale in program history, and broke the 2013 meet record. He also broke the ART U record in the 110mH, going 14.11 in the prelims to take him to 18th in the nation, and the PacWest 2014 meet record in the 400mH final at 50.72 which is currently third in the country. Black's second leg of the 4x100m relay helped lead ART U to the title, delivering a 39.97 mark that sits sixth nationally as well.

This is the first USTFCCCA DII National Athlete of the Week honor for Black in his career.
