Vanguard Fall Invitational (Day 1) 

BEAUMONT, Calif. – Two rounds through the Vanguard Fall Invitational held at the Oak Valley Golf Club, Academy of Art women's golf sits in fourth place through the first day as they came out with a 44-over-par 620 to lead over Vanguard and Soka (Calif.).

Sophomore Chantel Tsai led the way for ART U in rounds one and two as she is currently tied for sixth out of the 39-competitor field. Tsai, who hit four birdies in her first round with her 5-over-par 77, is just two strokes ahead of freshman Isabella Christy, who shot a 9-over-par 153 overall. Just one ranking back is freshman Jannel Calixterio, who is currently tied for 10th.

Closing out the team score for the first day was graduate student Mara Aumund, as she shot an 8-over-par 81 in each of her first two rounds as it highlighted by eight pars in the back nine in the opening round. Next up for ART U is junior Nicole Yang who improved by six strokes in round two, as she recorded a 24-over-par 168 on the day.

While Jessup leads the tournament as a team with their 31-over-par 607 with a one stroke lead over Point Loma, Corina Shaw leads the rankings individually with a 1-under-par 143, ahead of Sehlai Purcell of Jessup by just one swing.

ART U will be back at it tomorrow to wrap the Vanguard Fall Invitational all up at the Oak Valley Golf Club, starting at 7 a.m.
