Vanguard Fall Invitational (Day 2) 

BEAUMONT, Calif. – Closing out the Vanguard Fall Invitational were the Urban Knights of Academy of Art women's golf as their third round 6-over-par 294 was the best round shot of the tournament and jumped them up two spots in the team rankings to finish in second place overall with a 50-over-par 914. 

Leading ART U through the third round and entire tournament was sophomore Chantel Tsai, as her even-par 72 pushed her up a spot in the individual rankings to finish in fifth place overall with a 7-over-par 223. Three strokes behind and tied for sixth place was freshman Isabella Christy who also shot her best round of the tournament in the third play through, putting together a 1-over-par 73 to conclude the invite with a 10-over-par 226. 

Next up for the Knights in their third spot was freshman Jannel Calixterio, who finished just outside the top 10 with a 15-over-par 231, while graduate student Mara Aumund rounded out the team score for the squad with her best round of her fall campaign, a 4-over-par 76 to finish with a 22-over-par 238 overall. Closing out the team was junior Nicole Yang who jumped up eight spots by shooting 14 strokes better compared to her opening play through in the third round to finish with a 25-over-par 241. 

Although ART U jumped up two spots in the team ranks, Point Loma eventually snuck away and took the team title with a 41-over-par 905 overall, nine strokes ahead of the Knights. Kiara Hernandez of PLNU ended up as the individual champion with her even-par 216 as she won by three strokes over a trio of competitors, making the top-five individual members all from a different institution.
 
With the Vanguard Fall Invitational at its conclusion, ART U will be back in competition in the spring with their first invitational on Feb. 3 at the LA Spring Kickoff.
