Park Heads Women's Golf Through First Round Of SSU Invite

Sonoma State Spring Invitational (Day One Results)

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. –
Gearing up for the Pacific West Conference Championship Tournament in just one week's time, Academy of Art women's golf took a stop at the Sonoma State Spring Invitational and finished the first day of action with a 43-over-par 331 overall as a squad.

Ending with the lowest score thus far on the tournament was graduate student Jae Eun Park, who concluded the round with a 9-over-par 81, as she currently ranks tied for 15th in the individual standings. Just two strokes behind was sophomore Nicole Yang and freshman Chantel Tsai, as the pair shot an 11-over-par 83 apiece, each tying for 22nd. Staying close to the pack was senior Valeria Ruiz with her 12-over-par 84, while senior Tessa Geenen rounded out the day for ART U with her 15-over-par 87.

In a competitive match in the team standings, Cal State LA currently leads the tournament with a 23-over-par 311 while Western Washington looks to come from behind tomorrow with their 25-over-par 313. On the individual scoreboard, Emma Worgum of WWU holds a four-stroke lead over Claire Shubin of Dominican, as Worgum shot a 4-under-par 68. 

The Sonoma State Spring Invitational will see the final round begin at 8 a.m. tomorrow to conclude the tournament.
