2025 Riverfront Invitational & Multis Results
SPOKANE, Wash. – Wrapping up the Riverfront Invitational & Multis at The Podium on Saturday, Academy of Art track & field saw improved marks in the men's and women's 400m come after a new Urban Knight surpassed the NCAA Division II Indoor Nationals provisional standard in the pentathlon earlier in the week.
A new season-best emerged for
Josh Marlin in the 400m as he lined up against competitors from NCAA DI institutions such as Washington State, Grand Canyon, and Montana, powering to a 47.40 across the finish line. He placed sixth on Saturday and, with his fourth Indoor Nationals provisional mark of the year, remained 13th in the country.
Marlin later joined
Ajani Ince,
Josh Shavies, and
Tre'Sean Bouie for the Knights' fourth Indoor Nationals 4x400m relay provisional mark achieved this season. The quartet bested multiple squads from Montana as well as another from GCU in capturing first place of 12 with a 3:14.46 effort. Second-fastest by Academy of Art in 2024-25, the collective time ranks 25th in NCAA DII overall.
Just one week after once again
breaking the program's 800m record,
Lina Hanich delivered a new indoor personal record of 55.88 in the 400m to add her name to the list of Indoor Nationals provisional qualifiers this season. The Advertising major went up against plenty of NCAA DI talent, taking sixth of 17 overall to enter the nation's top 30 while ending just shy of ART U's top five all-time marks.
Able to reach the 60m dash final after placing fourth of 65 sprinters earlier in the morning, Ince closed at 6.74 for fourth of eight in the last round. He remains inside the country's top 10 in the event.
On Thursday,
Maika Cuenca-Andreo challenged a primarily NCAA DI field in the pentathlon, finishing with 3,503 points to enter the country's top 20 Indoor Nationals provisional qualifiers. She took 10th of 22 on the day as well as third in Academy of Art history after offering marks of 9.13 in the 60m hurdles, 5-1 (1.55m) in the high jump, 31-9.5 (9.69m) in the shot put, 18-0.5 (5.50m) in the long jump, and a career-best 2:26.82 in the 800m.
A return to the East Coast is on tap for ART U as the Urban Knights prepare for the Fasttrack Last Chance Invitational (Feb. 28) and Last Chance Indoor National Qualifier (Mar. 2).
