The Patriot Invitational (Day 1)

CARMEL, Calif. – Only behind one NCAA Division I squad and nationally ranked teams, Academy of Art women's golf currently stands in 10th place at The Patriot Invitational at Quail Lodge & Golf Club after one day and two rounds of action.

Leading the Urban Knights through the first two rounds, sophomore Chantel Tsai's 9-over-par 151 guides the pack as she ranks tied for 14th place individually while junior Nicole Yang is next up with her 14-over-par 156 in 33rd place. Closing out the team score, freshman Meri Illamola and freshman Isabella Christy share the same 23-over-par 165, with freshman Jannel Calixterio rounding out the squad with a 24-over-par 166 just one stroke back. As a unit, ART U ranks ahead of No. 29 Cal State East Bay, Cal State Monterey Bay, Angelo State, Jessup, and Chico State.

Ahead of all teams is Harvard, finishing day one with an 18-over-par 586, eight strokes better than Cal State San Marcos. Dallas Baptist sits in third, four strokes behind their fellow DII rival. Individually, the Crimson's Vanessa Zhang also holds the first place slot, totaling a 4-under-par 138, two strokes ahead of Ellen Spigner of Arkansas Tech.

ART U will be back at it again tomorrow morning in the The Patriot Invitational for the third and final round, looking to jump the nationally ranked schools ahead of them.
