2025 Texas Relays Results
2025 Bobcat Invitational Results
Relays on both the men's and women's side put Academy of Art track & field further up the ranks in NCAA Division II history fittingly at the Texas Relays while other Urban Knights posted their first and better Outdoor Nationals provisional qualifications of the season there and at the Bobcat Invitational.
AUSTIN, Tex. – ART U closed out the Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium with nearly a new 4x200m NCAA DII record on the men's side, a top 10 mark in NCAA DII history in the women's 4x800m, and Outdoor Nationals provisional marks from others on Saturday.
Owning the third-fastest time in the 4x200m in NCAA DII history going into the race after logging a 1:23.85 at last season's Texas Relays, Academy of Art did one better this time out as
Tre'Sean Bouie,
Ajani Ince,
Robin Black, and
Josh Shavies delivered a 1:23.55 to nearly eclipse the record set by Saint Augustine's (1:23.50) nine years ago. The time that put the Knights fourth of 10 on the day (better than a host of NCAA DI squads) was second among DII teams historically and served as the new ART U program record.
Only a trio of NCAA DI sprinters finished ahead of Ince in the 200m dash, but none were more than 0.80 seconds faster as the native of Barbados turned in a 20.98 mark that improved upon his outdoor debut by more than 0.20 seconds and earned him the 15th spot among NCAA DII Outdoor Nationals provisional qualifiers this season.
The combination of
Lina Hanich,
Grace Southern,
Maika Cuenca-Andreo, and
Michaela Andrews put their talents together in the 4x800m relay for a new program record by more than 20 seconds at 9:04.11. Not far from Harding (8:59.72) and Abeline Christian (9:03.91) in the race, ART U authored the ninth-fastest time in NCAA DII history.
A triple jump field loaded with NCAA DI talent saw
Yacouba Gnacko's first attempt of his outdoor campaign exceed the Outdoor Nationals provisional standard at 48-9 (14.86m). He would go on to finish 10th in the competition and 15th in the country.
SAN MARCOS, Tex. – Academy of Art ended Saturday on a strong note as Bouie improved his Outdoor Nationals provisional time in the 400m at the Bobcat Invitational.
The final Knight to compete on the day, Bouie took 0.15 seconds off his previous 400m season best, going 47.07 to place ninth of 42 competitors overall. His Outdoor Nationals provisional mark put him 11th in the country this year and fifth in ART U history.
As the calendar turns to April, Academy of Art will next enter Cal's Brutus Hamilton Multi-Events (Apr. 3-4) and Invitational (Apr. 5) as well as the Stanford Invitational (Apr. 4-5).
