ART U Closes Sonoma Invite In Third Place, Christy Top 10

Sonoma State Spring Invitational (Final Results)

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. –
Academy of Art women's golf has continued to result in another impressive finish after placing third of 11 teams at the Sonoma State Spring Invitational this week, totaling a 39-over-par 615 as a unit.

Standing out for the Urban Knights was freshman Isabella Christy, who recorded a top 10 finish for the seventh time in her campaign. Christy's 6-over-par 150 ranks as the best on the squad while freshman Jannel Calixterio was just two strokes behind, finishing in 11th place individually. One additional stroke back with a 9-over-par 153 marked sophomore Chantel Tsai in 14th place, with junior Nicole Yang rounding out the team score with her 16-over-par 160. Also finishing out the tournament was freshman Meri Illamola who totaled an 18-over-par 162.

The best team score by tournament's end as a team was created by Cal State Los Angeles, who totaled a 28-over-par 604 through the two rounds. With ART U finishing in third overall, the Knights finished ahead of eight other schools, including No. 20 Simon Fraser and No. 41 Sonoma State. Individually, Holly Obermuller took the individual title with her 9-under-par 135.

Academy of Art now turns its attention to the Pacific West Conference Tournament, which will begin on Monday, Apr. 21 from the Aliante Golf Club in North Las Vegas, Nev.
