Zanichelli Through Round Two, One To Go At West Regionals

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Shooting a 6-over-par 78 in the second round at the NCAA Division II West/South Central Regionals Tournament, senior Giulio Zanichelli now holds a two-day total 5-over-par 149 overall with one round left to play.

Scoring a par through five holes, Zanichelli went on to par on five more consecutive occasions surrounding the turn before knocking in his second birdie of the day on Hole 14.

The No. 1 team in NCAA DII in Colorado Christian still leads the tournament as a unit through the second round, holding a 34-under-par 542. Five strokes back is No. 6 Oklahoma Christian, while No. 17 CSU East Bay is two more strokes out in third place. Individually, Baptiste Touchard of St. Mary's (Tex.) still leads with a 15-under-par 129, while Xavier Bighaus is trying to catch him two strokes behind, with four other golfers shooting 10-under-par or better.

Zanichelli will close the tournament out tomorrow, competing in the third and final round.
