Garcia Helps Men's Golf Improve One Spot on Final Day

---  Sophomore Matt Garcia helped propel the Academy of Art men's golf team to a 15th place finish with a tied for 26th finish himself, on Tuesday at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational at Turlock Country Club.  Garcia shot 84-66-73--223 to finish 25th in a field of 89 golfers.

As a team, the Urban Knights shot 300 on Tuesday to finish five strokes behind UC San Diego, and six strokes ahead of  Notre Dame de Namur to place them in 15th.  Cal State Stanislaus and Cal State San Bernardino were tied atop the leaderboard at 871, settling for co-championship honors.

Following Garcia in 54th place was sophomore Stuart Favretto who shot 75-78-79--232.  Erik Majzner was at 82-74-76--232 and Dave Carney was at 84-85-72--241, tying for 54th and 77th place respectively.  While Oscar Walden shaved 9 strokes off of his final round score to finished 88th at 121-108-99--328.

The individual medalist, Gene Webster of Cal State San Bernardino, carded a spectacular 68-67-63--198 to break Jarin Todd's tournament record. 

The Urban Knights will compete in the PacWest Championships next week in Honolulu, HI, where they will be seeking their second consecutive conference championship.
