Men's Golf Concludes Season With Seventh Place Finish

The Academy of Art men's golf team concludes their season with a seventh place finish at the 2011 Pacific West Conference Championships hosted by Dixie State College at Sunbrook Golf Course. 

The Urban Knights had the chance to make a run at sixth place Hawaii Pacific University, but a third round score of 312 kept the Knights in seventh place through two days of golf. Overall ART U combined for a three round score of 926.

The University of Hawai'i-Hilo paced the nine-team field with a score of 880. The Vulcans' Blake Snyder took home top medalist honors with rounds of 68, 70, and 75 for a total of three under par-213.

For the Academy of Art, senior Matt Garcia tied for 16th place in the 45-player field at 11 strokes over with rounds of 72, 75 and a final round of 80. The senior registered 9 birdies on the par-72 6,875-yard course. Teammate Erik Majzner shot rounds of 77, 75, and 76, which placed him tied for 18th. Majzner was also one of eight players to sink an eagle on the challenging course.

Junior Stuart Favretto shot a two-over par 75 in the opening round, which tied him for 20th going into round two. Then in round two his score of  79 dropped him to 28th place as day one concluded. At the end of 54-rounds of golf, Favretto placed 26th with a final round score of 77. Carlos Nones finished in a two way tie for 35th, while Thomas Krepp takes 38th.

The PacWest Championship concludes the Urban Knights play for the 2010-11 season.
