Otter Invitational Final Results
SEASIDE, CALIF. – Academy of Art men's golf headed into the third and final round of the Otter Invite on Thursday, finishing with 300 strokes to place 16th in the tournament.
Junior
Daniel Cosgrove was the Urban Knights' top golfer, earning a tie for 43rd with 226 strokes overall. The advertising major improved after every round, shooting an 80, 76, and 70 in the first through third rounds respectively. Cosgrove's 70-stroke final round was also tied for the lowest score of the day. Furthermore, the Trim, Ireland native led the tournament with six birdies over the course of his 54 holes. Just one stroke behind was junior
Oskar Frick whose 227 strokes garnered a tie for 45th-place. Junior
Eamonn Coughlin's 237-stroke effort landed him a tie for 77th, but the Santa Rosa Junior College transfer's 15 pars were tied for the most in the competition.
As a team, ART U showed improvements after each round and finished just two strokes behind 15th-place Hawaii Hilo and eight below UCSD.
With their fall season now in the books, Academy of Art will return to San Francisco where they will begin preparations for the spring season.
"It was nice to see Daniel and Oskar play well this fall," said head coach
Andy Moren. "They both had some strong moments that we can build on. In the spring, we should get some help from our freshman
Ernie Kim and an incoming player who will give us more depth."
