Homruen Captures First Eagle, Knights in Seventh

Academy of Art men's golf had a quicker turnaround than usual playing back to back tournaments on their trip to the Northwest. ART U teed off for their second tournament Monday at the Western Washington Invitational. After two rounds of play the Urban Knights are seventh out of the 20 team field.

Leading Academy of Art is junior Gabriel De Leon Manotoc, who shot a 74 (+2) in the first round and a 73 (+1) in the second. His cumulative score of 147 places him tied for 21st.

Senior Lawrence Liang had the best first round out of all Urban Knights, shooting an even 72. After his second round of 76, he is a single stroke behind Manotoc for the top spot. Liang led the team in birdies with seven.

Junior Otto Homruen had an impressive first day at the Invitational shooting the lowest second round for ART U with 73 strokes. Homruen is fourth out of a field of 104 golfers in pars collecting 25 on the day. The Thailand native also captured the Urban Knights first eagle of the 2018 season. The final scorer for ART U is Jose Lopez Butron who shot a 74 first round and a 76 the second.

Academy of Art will finish the Western Washington Invitational Tuesday, Sept. 25, starting at 9 a.m.
