2019 Pepsi Florida Relays Results (Day 2)
2019 Mike Fanelli Track Classic Results (Day 2)
Returning to continue the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainsville and the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in Hayward, Academy of Art offered NCAA Division II Nationals provisionals on both coasts of the country.
GAINSVILLE, Fla. – At the Pepsi Florida Relays, it was the men's 4x400m quartet who elevated themselves to second in the country.
Challenging many of NCAA Division I's top talent,
Christian Carter,
Grant Swinton,
Daquan Berry, and
Kaze Poitier combined to go 3:13.75 as a collective unit. They finished in the middle of a field of 46 teams and came through with DII's second Nationals provisional qualification of the year.
One second off of the provisional standard, the women's 4x400m foursome of
Latavia Hawkins,
Hava Turner,
Mia Avila, and
Ombretta Picciolie Minkue Meye crossed the line at 3:49.20.
In individual action,
Mobolade Ajomale contested both the 100m and 200m, finishing 10.51 for 21st of 52 in the former and 20.87 for eighth of 14. Both times were Nationals provisional marks, but they did not better Ajomale's previous season-bests (10.36, 20.81) which both came at the Hornet Invitational.
HAYWARD, Calif. – The ART U distance crew once again displayed their talents at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on Saturday.
At the forefront of 142 runners in the 1500m,
Victor Moreau posted the best time by nearly two full seconds at 3:46.65. The Nationals provisional qualifying mark was not only the second-fastest in NCAA Division II this season, but also second among all times run in ART U history.
Also second among the DII ranks was
Freddie Hessian who completed a late-night 5000m at 14:22.48. It was the fifth-fastest time in Urban Knights history and had him 20th of 227 total competitors who finished around roughly 11 p.m.
Hasna Kaarour emerged from the women's 1500m with an impressive 4:33.83 mark that had her third in program history.
Joshua Browne placed in the upper tier of the 400m, taking 29th of 76 with a 51.14 time.
Academy of Art will conclude both three-day meets tomorrow.
