2019 Azusa Pacific Twlight & Multi Results
AZUSA, Calif. – Inside Cougar Stadium for the third weekend of the spring season, Academy of Art track & field's
Grant Swinton contributed to four NCAA Division II Nationals provisional marks while moving higher in the Urban Knights' record book in the 400m and 200m at the Azusa Pacific Twilight & Multi on Friday.
Running his fastest 400m time in an ART U uniform, Swinton dominated the event's 10-man field with a 47.52 to once again provisionally qualify for Nationals. This time, he moved up to fourth in program history and cracked the top 30 in Division II.
Later in the 200m, Swinton cut nearly 0.10 off his season-best time from the Florida Relays with a 21.26 good for third in Academy of Art history and 36th in DII as a Nationals provisional.
On top of his individual success, Swinton would appear in both relays, working with
Christian Carter,
Kaze Poitier, and
Roshard Williams to deliver the fourth-fastest time in ART U history at 3:11.36. The Nationals provisional rose that quartet to 13th in DII.
In both the men's and women's 4x100m relays, teams from Academy of Art produced their respective second-fastest times of the season with two NCAA Nationals provisional marks. On the men's side, Swinton joined
Mobolade Ajomale, Carter, and
Daquan Berry for a 40.95 provisional while the women's team of
Allysia Parry, Ombretta Picciolie Minkue Meye,
Hava Turner, and
Darria Matthias offered a 46.13.
Leading the way in the men's 1500m,
Freddie Hessian and
Charlie Messai finished in the top two spots respectively, offering times of 3:51.36 and 3:55.79.
The Urban Knights will step onto Bill Henry Track on the campus of Occidental College tomorrow for the Oxy Invitational, their final regular season meet.
