2019 Oxy Invitational Results

LOS ANGELES – Saturday's Oxy Invitational at Bill Henry Track marked the final day for qualification to NCAA Division II Nationals for Academy of Art track & field and multiple provisional marks came through highlighted by season-bests in both the women's 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

The first relay of the day had Selena Arjona-Alcazar, Ombretta Picciolie Minkue Meye, Hava Turner, and Darria Matthias combine for to go 45.80 which won the event and rose them to 11th in the country as provisional qualifiers. Later in the 4x400m, Mia Avila, Turner, Latavia Hawkins, and Minkue Meye once again ran their fastest time of the year with a Nationals provisional 3:45.26 good for 22nd place overall in DII.

Building off his success from a busy Friday at the Azusa Pacific Twilight & Multi, Grant Swinton dropped a quicker time in the 400m at 47.45. Still fourth in program history, his performance earned him third of 44 in the event, provisional qualification, and moved him up slightly to 32nd in DII. A lifetime-best also came for Christian Carter in the 400m as he placed sixth overall at 47.87.

Contesting just the third outdoor 800m of his Academy of Art career, Victor Moreau got himself onto into the program's top five all-time with a lifetime-best 1:52.79. The mark was fifth in ART U history and came less than a second ahead of Joshua Browne whose 1:53.43 put him 18t h of 54 on the day.

A total of 11 events after her part anchoring the 4x100m relay, Matthias delivered her fastest 200m time of the season, going 24.26 for a Nationals provisional, elevating her to the 32nd spot in the nation, and bringing her to within 0.03 of the fourth-fastest mark in program history.

A new ART U record was set once again by Audrey Rosencrans in the 3000m steeplechase. The freshman concluded her progression in the event this season by cutting almost a full second off her previous lifetime-best with a 11:24.61 time across the finish line.

The men's 4x100m saw Swinton team with Mobolade Ajomale, Carter, and Arrun Palacio for a 40.90 that was a NCAA Nationals provisional (31st in DII) and the fastest that particular team has run together this year.

In his final regular season 100m, Ajomale placed fourth of 37 with a time of 10.46, but it is his season-best 10.36 that has him amongst the country's top 15.

With its final times in the books, ART U awaits the announcement of which marks will earn qualification to NCAA Nationals taking place in Kingsville, Texas on May 23-25.
