Saint Martin's Invitational Day One Results
LACEY, Wash. – In their first tournament of the 2019-2020 season Academy of Art men's golf was tied for first place at the end of the first round with a sensational 6-under-par 282, but the Urban Knights ended day one of the Saint Martin's Invitational in sixth.
ART U's strong start was fueled by an impressive debut by junior
Zhane Chan, who shot a 3-under-par 69 in his first round as an Urban Knight to end the round tied for fifth. Junior
Otto Homruen trailed Chan by a single stroke with a 2-under-par 70 for a 10th place start. Senior
Gabriel De Leon Manotoc ended his first round of 2019 tied for 18th with a 1-under-par 71 and junior
Matthew Watkins rounded out the ART U scorers with an even 72.Â
Homruen took over as the highest placed Urban Knight in round two after shooting 1-under-par 71 to end the day tied for ninth. Chan fired a 1-over-par 73 for a cumulative score of 142 and 15th place finish. Manotoc ended tied for 28th with a 145 and junior
Julius Kreutzer contributed his first score with a 2-over-par 74 in the second round of play.Â
Academy of Art heads into the final day of the Saint Martin's Invitational in sixth with a cumulative team score of 574, however the field is incredibly close. Simon Frasier does hold a 16 stroke lead over second place, but ART U is just one stroke out of fourth, and two strokes from being second.
ART U will hit the links of The Home Course tomorrow starting at 8 a.m. as they look to return to their top spot.
