ART U Finishes Middle Of The Pack At Bay Area Invitational

2020 Bay Area Invitational Results

PLEASANTON, Calif. –
Round three of the Bay Area Invitational saw higher scores across the board. The Academy of Art men's golf team finished the first tournament of the spring season toward the middle of the pack in ninth place at Ruby Hill Golf Club.

Leading the way for the Urban Knights in the final round was senior Otto Homruen, as he carded a 3-over-par 75 to close out the tournament. The top individual finisher for ART U was junior Matthew Watkins, as he tallied a 6-over-par 78 in the final round en route to a 9-over-par 225. Just behind Watkins was junior Julius Kreutzer with a 12-over-par 228. Kreutzer recorded the best round of the tournament for ART U when he shot 3-under-par in the first round, and also was the only Urban Knight to record an eagle during the tournament.

As a team, ART U finished at 43-over-par 907, just one stroke behind eighth place Saint Martin's and seven strokes back of 2019 PacWest champion Holy Names. Cal State East Bay was the winning school, ending with a 12-over-par 876, three strokes ahead of second place Chico State which finished with a 15-over-par 879. The individual winner of the tournament was Viktor Olund of Concordia (Ore.), though he played as an individual participant in the tournament. He carded a 4-under-par 212 to finish in first.

The Urban Knights will hit the links next on March 9 when they take part in the NDNU Argonaut Invitational at Poppy Ridge Golf Course.
