2020 Notre Dame de Namur Invitational Results (Day 1)

LIVERMORE, Calif. – Through two rounds of the Notre Dame de Namur Argonaut Invitational, Academy of Art men's golf sits second overall, just two strokes back of tournament leader Cal State East Bay. Senior Gabriel De Leon Manotoc, currently fourth individually, exits the first day of action out at the Poppy Ridge Golf Course as the Urban Knights' leader.

One of three ART U players to shoot a 75 in the first round, Manotoc came back with his best round of the 2019-20 season at 3-under 69 to gain sole possession of fourth of 76 competitors with a combined total of 144. Junior Julius Kreutzer began with a 1-under 71 then added a 2-over 74 in round two for a total of 145 in a tie for fifth individually. With the second-most birdies on the day (eight), senior Matthew Watkins paired a 75 opening round with an even 72 for 147 and a tie for seventh. Rounding out the Academy of Art scorers, junior Zhane Chan heads into day two tied for 26th with a 153 (77-76).

At a combined 585 and carrying individual leader Joey Herrera (139, 70-69), Cal State East Bay holds a two-stroke lead over the Urban Knights (587) and a four-stroke advantage on Dixie State (589). ART U remains 26 strokes in front of the next closest Pacific West Conference team in Holy Names (615).
