HAYWARD, Calif. – Academy of Art men's golf sought to protect its two-round lead at the Bay Area Invitational from TPC Stonebrae Country Club, and thanks in part to junior
Julius Kreutzer's even-par 72 on the final day of action, ART U captured its first tournament win of 2020-21 at 48-over-par 912. Atop the leaderboard was a pair of Urban Knights, as Kreutzer's day propelled him first place at 1-over-par 217 while junior
Matthew Watkins finished directly behind him in second place at 6-over-par 222.

The tournament win for the Urban Knights is their second in a row, as ART U used a strong third round to come back and
take first place at the NDNU Invitational on Mar. 10, 2020 in their last action of the season. Entering the day with a four-shot lead, the Knights combined for the lowest team score in round three at 24-over-par 312, going on to win the tournament by seven strokes over second place Holy Names (55-over-par 919).
The junior duo of Watkins and Kreutzer began the day in first and second respectively, but would go on to flip-flop on the leaderboard after Kreutzer shot the lowest individual score in round three. Watkins found another six birdies on the day to lead all players in the tournament with 1, and this time Kreutzer finished second with 10 of his own.
Also finishing in the top-10 was senior
Otto Homruen, chipping in a six-over-par 78 in the final round to end his tournament in ninth place at 16-over-par 232. Rounding out the scoring for ART U was
Gabriel De Leon Manotoc, finishing in 17th place at 25-over-par 241.
The Urban Knights will return to the links to defend their tournament title on Mar. 8 and 9 when they take part in the Nighthawks Invitational from Poppy Ridge Golf Course.
