2023 Pacific West Conference Championship (Final Results)
LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – After matching his round one score and lowest ART U round of the tournament, Academy of Art men's golf sophomore
Anson Pan climbed three spots over the course of his final round at the Pacific West Conference Championship hosted by Wigwam Golf Course, finishing in a tie for 10th place at 10-over-par 226 which earned him a spot on the PacWest All-Tournament Team. Meanwhile, the Urban Knights remained steady as a unit as they finished in fourth place at 74-over-par 938.Â
It was another 3-over-par 75 for Pan, who started his day with a birdie on the third hole while collecting six pars on his front nine to make the turn at 1-over. His back nine was a bit more up-and-down, but he still notched another pair of birdies on the 10th and 13th holes. With a total of eight birdies in the tournament, Pan not only led ART U but tied for fifth-most in the tournament field.Â
Finishing second for the Urban Knights was another sophomore in
Giulio Zanichelli, who had a bit of a rollercoaster round but did earn a birdie on the 17th hole before ending his day at 9-over-par 81. Overall, that brought Zanichelli to 19th place with a final score of 17-over-par 233. Next up was junior
Allan Osornio in 21st place at 21-over-par 237, while freshman
Jerah Venkaiya placed 24th at 26-over-par 242.Â
It was quite the tournament for UH Hilo, who not only captured the team tournament title thanks to their combined score of 15-over-par 879, but also produced a tie for the individual title as Junsu Im and Andrew Otani each carded a final score of 1-over-par 217. That earned the duo a three-stroke lead over the tie for third place between Christian Schrodt of Dominican and Luke Dugger of Holy Names (4-over-par 221), while the Vulcans enjoyed a 10-shot margin over second place Dominican (25-over-par 889).Â
