Wildcat Classic (Final Round)
CORNING, Calif. – Climbing up the team leaderboard by one spot were the Urban Knights after the conclusion of the final round of the Wildcat Classic, as the squad put together their second 4-under-par 284 of the tournament to finish tied for fourth place overall with their 2-under-par 862.
After putting together a 9-under-par 135 by the end of the first day, Academy of Art men's golf senior Giulio Zanichelli stayed near the top of the individual leaderboard as he shot a 1-under-par 71 in his third round, good to finish in second place with a total of a 10-under-par 206. This is the second occasion of the fall 2024 season that Zanichelli has finished as the individual runner up.
Next up on the individual leaderboard for the Knights was freshman Mario Stump, as his 1-under-par 215 earned himself a top 20 finish while he ended the tournament out in 16th place, the best finish of his fall campaign. Not far behind in 18th place was senior Anson Pan, as he shot the best round by a Knight on the day with his 2-under-par 70, his lowest round of 2024 thus far.
Finishing up the team score for ART U was freshman Kok Siew "Andy" Chew, as he shot his best round of the campaign in the third round as well with a 1-under-par 71, totalling a 10-over-par 226 on the tournament. Rounding out the squad was freshman Ekam Singh, as he concluded three rounds with a 13-over-par 229.
Cal State East Bay took the team title the Wildcat Classic with their 33-under-par 831, as Travis Miller came out as the individual champion with a 13-under-par 203.
ART U will compete in one more tournament of the fall campaign, entering themselves into the Otter Invitational next week on Monday, Oct. 14.
