ART U Ends PacWest Strong In Third Place With Two Top 5

WAIMEA, Hawaii – Two members of Academy of Art men's golf recorded top five finishes, as junior Giulio Zanichelli and senior Jack DeBenedetti each shot a 6-over-par 222 over the course of the three-day tournament. Each shooting their best round during the second play through, Zanichelli shot a 2-under-par 70 to tie the best single round score of the tournament by any player, all while DeBenedetti shot the best single round of his season with his even-par 72. The pair earned PacWest All-Tournament Team honors, sharing the award with the eight other members of the top 10.

Junior Anson Pan recorded his best round today as his 1-under-par 71 bettered his second round by seven strokes to complete his tournament with a 18-over-par 234, placing himself in 14th place. Tied for 19th individually was senior Allan Osornio, who also shot his best round on day three with his 1-over-par 73 to improve upon his second round by nine strokes, totaling a 22-over-par 238. Ending it off for ART U is freshman Miguel Mendonza, who finished with a 30-over-par 246.

UH Hilo took the title as team champions with their 34-over-par 898, beating second place Hawaii Pacific by 14 strokes. Nicholas Gomez of UH Hilo would take the honors as individual champion, as his 4-over-par 220 was just enough to hold off Kyle Krupp of HPU by a stroke as well as a four member crew tied for third an additional stroke behind.
