CSC Academic All-District Honors Awarded To Goetschl

2024 CSC Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country Teams

Katharina GoetschlGREENWOOD, Ind. – Excelling on the course, on the track, and in the classroom, Academy of Art track & field/cross country's Katharina Goetschl was recognized in Tuesday's announcement of the 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team selections.

The 2024 Academic All-District track & field/cross country teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes track & field/cross country honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

On her way to a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 in the School of Industrial Design, Goetschl spent her first cross country campaign as an Urban Knight by leading the team in ART U's final three races of the season. She went out with two impressive performances, taking eighth at the Pacific West Conference Championship to become All-PacWest Second Team then running the fourth-fastest 6k time in program history (21:20.5) at NCAA DII West Regionals while securing All-Region Team with a 12th place finish and adding the second USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete honor of her career as well.

An indoor season that saw Goetschl collect an All-Region selection with a 4:53.35 (third in Academy of Art history) in the mile gave way to a record-breaking outdoor run that featured the Oberndorf an der Melk, Austria native delivering four new all-time bests by an Urban Knight in the 3000m steeplechase. The final of those records (10:13.58) helped Goetschl take fourth at Outdoor Nationals to become an All-American after she defended her PacWest title in the event. Additionally, she was the PacWest Champion in the 5000m, added two more All-Region honors to make it seven total in her ART U career, entered the program's top four all-time in the 1500m and 5000m, and ended her junior season as an All-American in the 5000m.

This is the first CSC Academic All-District honors for Goetschl in her career.
