Urban Knight Invitational (Final Results)

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Academy of Art women's golf squad won their first tournament of not only the 2024 season, but their first since 2021. The Urban Knights stayed atop the team leaderboard throughout both rounds, and eventually took the Urban Knight Invitational title with them as they came out on top with a 43-over-par 331, 14 strokes ahead of second-place Jessup.

Out of the 18-competitor field, four ART U golfers cracked the top half while freshman Isabella Christy came away with the individual tournament win, finalizing her score at a 4-over-par 148, shooting a consistent 2-over-par 74 in each round. This win is Christy's first career triumph as this was just her second collegiate tournament to date. Just three strokes behind was sophomore Chantel Tsai who finished with a 7-over-par 151, raking in third place overall. 

Competing as an individual was junior Nicole Yang, as she totaled a 10-over-par 154 to finish in fifth place overall. Freshman Meri Illamola was the third member of ART U to contribute towards the team score, as she improved by four strokes in the back half to end it off with her 18-over-par 162, while freshman Jannel Calixterio closed out the top 10 of the tournament just a stroke back with a 19-over-par 163. Graduate student Mara Aumund rounded out Academy of Art with a 20-over-par 164 in her first tournament with the Knights.

ART U will be back out on the course in just a week's time as they'll compete in the Sonoma State Fall Invitational, starting on Monday, Oct. 7.
