Men's Golf Close Out Nighthawk Invite In Fifth Place

PLEASANTON, Calif. –  Academy of Art men's golf finished off the Nighthawk Invitational in fifth place as the team shot a 55-over-par 919 over three rounds at Callippe Preserve Golf Course on Friday morning.

Senior Giulio Zanichelli paced ART U as he finished tied for 15th individually and shot a 7-over-par 223. Senior Anson Pan would follow Zanichelli on the Academy of Art squad tied in 24th place, as he finished with a 10-over-par 226. Freshman Ekam Singh would end in 33rd place not far behind with his 17-over-par 233, while junior Zach DuBourdieu ended with a 22-over-par 238 to mark the team's final qualifier. Sophomore Miguel Mendoza closed out the squad with his 29-over-par 245.

Cal State East Bay came out with the victory,, as the team shot a collective 18-over-par 882, three strokes ahead of second-place Sonoma State. Easton Hether of CSUEB finished as the individual champion with a 2-under-par 214, winning the tournament by three strokes as well.

The Urban Knights will return to action in just three days as the squad will compete in the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at familiar Corica Park Golf Course in Alameda, Calif.
