Hanny Stanislaus Invitational (Final)
TURLOCK, Calif. – Finishing off their final regular season showing before the Pacific West Conference Tournament, Academy of Art men's golf concluded the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational at Turlock GC with a 4-over-par 292 in their third play through, improving on their second round and wrapping the two-day event up with a top 10 finish as a unit.
Shooting a 1-over-par 73 in his final round, senior Giulio Zanichelli finished as the top Urban Knight in the contest, totaling an even-par 216, good for 25th place individually in the 85-competitor field. Within range of Zanichelli was Zach DuBourdieu coming in at the second slot on the squad with his final 2-over-par 218, while senior Anson Pan was just one stroke behind him with his 3-over-par 219. Freshman Ekam Singh tied his best round of the tournament with his 3-over-par 75 on Tuesday to rank in the fourth slot for his team in the final round, as he finished with a 10-over-par 226 total, a singular stroke behind freshman Mario Stump's 9-over-par 225.
Coming from behind to take the tournament win as a team was No. 24 Cal State Monterey Bay as the Otters finished with their 18-under-par 846, two strokes ahead of second-place No. 33 Chico State. ART U's 10th place finish was good for a final score of a 7-over-par 871. On the individual side, David Sibbett of Western Washington came away with the tournament victory as he shot a 12-under-par 204 with two rounds of 5-under-par.
Early next week, the Knights will head out to North Las Vegas, Nev. where they'll compete in the PacWest Conference Championship, starting on Apr. 21.
