Men's Golf Open PacWest Tournament With Fourth Place Rank

Starting off the Pacific West Conference Tournament on Monday, Academy of Art men's golf finished ahead of five schools, taking the fourth place ranking after the first day of action at the Aliante Golf Club.

With a 7-over-par 295 score as a team, leading the first round for the Urban Knights individually was senior Giulio Zanichelli, whose 1-under-par 71 was good for sixth place as he knocked through four birdies. Junior Zach DuBourdieu and freshman Mario Stump followed him up with a 2-over-par 74 apiece, sitting tied for 17th place. While senior Anson Pan scored a 4-over-par 76, freshman Ekam Singh closed the team out with his 5-over-par 77. As a unit, 15 birdies fell for ART U in the first round.

Taking over the lead late in the afternoon, Hawaii Pacific is atop the leaderboard with their 6-under-par 282 and with a two-stroke lead ahead of UH Hilo. While Menlo is just ahead of ART U by two strokes as well, the Knights rank fourth overall. Individually, Katsuhiro Yamashita of UH Hilo, Dylan Bercan of UH Hilo, Fisher Ransom of HPU, and Paul Hautbourg of Menlo share the first place rank as they all shot a 4-under-par 68.

The Knights will be right back at it for the second round tomorrow with a 7:00 a.m. tee time.
