Saint Martin's Invitational Final Individual Results
LACEY, Wash. -- The Academy of Art men's golf team finished up the third and final round of the Saint Martin's Invitational on Saturday. The Urban Knights fought through unfavorable conditions in the final round and finished 14th place overall.
"We started off the tournament really solid and we had some strong performances from Gabriel, Matt, and Lawrence," said head coach
Andy Moren. "The conditions made the course difficult today so our round reflected this."
Junior
Gabriel De Leon Manotoc put on a strong performance shooting a 73 (+1) in the final round. He finished with an overall score of 220 for a six way tie for 14th place. Manotoc placed in a couple different statistical categories including: par-5 scoring (-3), par-4 scoring (+3), and pars with 35.
Sophomore
Matthew Watkins finished out the final round with a 78 (+6), and finished the tournament in a tie for 33rd place with 225 overall strokes.
Senior
Lawrence Liang placed third for ART U, shooting a 76 in the final round for a cumulative score of 228. Liang was the highest placed Knight in a statistical category with his 38 pars placing him sixth in the entire field.
Rounding out the scoring for Academy of Art was junior
Otto Homruen. In his first tournament as a Knight Homruen shot a 79 (+7) in the third round for a total score of 233.
"Although we did not finish as well as we hoped there are still a lot of positives that we hoped to build on Monday and Tuesday."
The Urban Knights will tee off again Monday, at the Western Washington Invitational in Bellingham, Wash. at the Bellingham Golf and Country Club.
