PacWest Recognizes Another ART U Trio In Weekly Awards

PacWest Conference Track & Field Weekly Awards (Apr. 3)

IRVINE, Calif. – Following breakout performances that elevated three Academy of Art track & field student-athletes to either the top rank in NCAA Division II or top three in their respective events, it was another ART U trio who earned Pacific West Conference Athletes of the Week in a Wednesday release. On the men's side, Victor Moreau was selected as Track Athlete of the Week after running a lifetime-best winning the Mike Fanelli Track Classic 1500m. For the women, Track Athlete of the Week honors went to Ombretta Picciolie Minkue Meye for her DII-leading 200m time at the Pepsi Florida Relays where Camille Jouanno also had her best triple jump of the year en route to her second Field Athlete of the Week. The awards were based on competition from Mar. 25-31.

Two nationally significant marks came for Moreau at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic. At the forefront of 142 runners in the 1500m on Mar. 29, he posted the best time by nearly two full seconds at 3:46.65. The Nationals provisional qualifying mark was not only the second-fastest in NCAA Division II this season, but also second among all times run in ART U history. The Communications & Media Technologies major also rose to 21st in DII in the 800m on Mar. 30 after running a 1:53.38 that was just 0.2 off of Academy of Art's top five in program history.

At the Pepsi Florida Relays, the women's 200m saw Minkue Meye post the fastest NCAA DII time of the season at 24.09. It was a Nationals provisional qualifier, third-fastest in program history, and had her 25th of 116 on the day. She would also contribute to the women's 4x100m which hit the Nationals provisional standard with a 46.64 good for fourth in DII. The Communications & Media Technologies major later added a leg of the program's first 4x200m which ran 1:38.21 on Mar. 30. Finally, Minkue Meye was also on the Urban Knights' 4x400m relay that ran 3:49.20 just short of a Nationals provisional and currently ranks No. 11 in the country.

Jouanno's performance at the Pepsi Florida Relays kept her in contention with the top jumpers at the NCAA Division II level. Her second triple jump attempt had her soar to 40-11.25 (12.48m) which moved her nearly three inches closer to the NCAA Division II leader and has her now third in DII.

In their respective careers, this is Jouanno's second weekly honor and the first PacWest track & field selection for both Moreau and Minkue Meye.
