2021 NNU Nighthawks Invitational Results
LIVERMORE, Calif. – The lowest single-round score of the tournament helped Academy of Art men's golf junior
Julius Kreutzer to an exciting one-stroke tournament victory at the NNU Nighthawks Invitational, as he carded a 3-under-par 69 in the final round of action to jump up from 16th place and claim his second straight tournament victory. His performance helped ART U to finish in a tie for third place at 36-over-par 612, just two strokes behind tournament winner Western Washington and Sonoma State, with Western Washington winning the team title in a sudden-death playoff.
"The boys gave it their best today, unfortunately this time we came up just short," said ART U Head Coach
Andy Moren. "We are looking forward to next week and hopefully we can finish a little better."
Two weeks after winning the season's first tournament
at the Bay Area Invitational, Kreutzer final round helped him to finish at 2-over-par 146, just one stroke ahead of second place Bryan Hirabayashi of Westminster College. Kreutzer would finish with a tournament-leading 10 birdies, six of which came in his final round to secure the victory. It's the third tournament win in Kreutzer's career, having also won the
Concordia Invitational at the beginning of last season.
"Julius stepped up and played a great round of golf given the conditions," Moren said. "He is an exceptional player and it is great to see all his hard work paying off."
Also finishing in the top-20 to help the Urban Knights in their tie for third was senior
Gabriel De Leon Manotoc, tying for 18th place at 10-over-par 154 after shooting a 1-over-par 73 in the final round. Just outside the top-20 in a tie for 21st was junior
Matthew Watkins at 11-over-par 155.
The Urban Knights will return to action Monday, Mar. 15 when they tee off at the Pioneer Shootout from Chuck Corica Golf Complex.
