Wilson Makes It Five PacWest Defender Of Week Honors

PacWest Weekly Awards (Feb. 20)

IRVINE, Calif. – A big part of Academy of Art women's basketball holding Holy Names to just 40 points this past weekend, sophomore forward/center Alisha Wilson secured her fifth PacWest Defender of the Week honor of the year on Monday. The award is for games played from Feb. 13-19.

In the Urban Knights' lone game of the week on Feb. 19, Wilson was active on both ends of the court with her six steals and 11 defensive rebounds each emerging as game highs. The six swipes were her second-highest total of the year and her 15th time with multiple thefts in a game. Additionally, the 11 rebounds on the defensive glass contributed to her career-high 23 rebounds in the contest to tie the ART U record.

This season, Wilson's 16 double-doubles not only lead the PacWest, but they are also eighth in NCAA Division II. The Communications & Media Technologies major leads the country with 14.9 rebounds per game in addition to ranking second in the PacWest in steals (2.7, 25th in NCAA DII) and sixth in blocks (1.0) per game.

This is the sixth PacWest weekly honor for Wilson this season after she was named Defender of the Week on Jan. 4Jan. 23Jan. 30, and Feb. 6 as well as Player of the Week on Jan. 16. It is her eighth career weekly award.
