2019 PacWest Men's Golf Awards
IRVINE, Calif. -- Following a runner-up finish at the
PacWest Championship, four Academy of Art men's golfers were recognized for their strong 2018-2019 seasons and were named to the All-PacWest Team. Junior
Gabriel De Leon Manotoc and sophomore
Matthew Watkins earned their second straight honors, while senior
Oskar Frick was named All-PacWest for the third time and senior
Lawrence Liang earned his first career honors.
Manotoc comes in as the only member of the First Team, after posting an average score of 73.17. Manotoc tied for second at the conference tournament and was named PacWest Golfer of the Week twice (
Mar. 14,
Mar. 21). Watkins earned All-PacWest Second Team with an average score of 74.52. In his sophomore campaign, Watkins tied the best single round and three round score in ART U history at the
Mustang Intercollegiate. The stellar performance earned him PacWest Golfer of the Week on
Apr. 11.
Frick and Liang were both named All-PacWest Third Team. Frick's best round came at the Mustang Intercollegiate when he shot a 2-under-par 70 in round two. Liang had an identical best round score, but did so twice at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout and the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational. Â
