2024 Hanny Stanislaus Invitational (Final Results)
TURLOCK, Calif. – The Hanny Stanislaus Invitational saw four Urban Knights enter as individuals, and these members of the squad put together a 56-over-par 920 performance as a group while shooting a combined 26 total birdies at the Turlock Golf & Country Club throughout the tournament.
Recording half of the 26 birdies put up by Academy of Art was junior Giulio Zanichelli, with 12 coming from his second and third rounds. To close out the tournament in his third run through, Zanichelli shot a 6-under-par 66 for the second time of the campaign, once again tying the ART U program record. This third round score tied the best of Zanichelli's career as he shot an identical round earlier this season on Mar. 5, also tied with Matt Garcia (Apr. 12, 2010),
Stuart Favretto (
Apr. 23, 2012), and
Julius Kreutzer (
Oct. 7, 2019) for the lowest by an Urban Knight. The Parma, Italy native finished the tournament overall with a 4-under-par 212, good for a top 10 finish as he climbed the individual leaderboard by 29 spots and finished tied for ninth place.
Junior Anson Pan came in behind Zanichelli on the Knights, finishing with a 13-over-par 229 over the course of his three rounds played. Next on the squad was freshman Miguel Mendoza with a 23-over-par 239, while senior Jack DeBenedetti was one stroke behind with a 24-over-par 240.
Cal State Monterey Bay came from behind to win the tournament as a team with their 18-under-par 846 while Chico State finished two strokes behind in second place with a 16-under-par 848. In a tie for the top spot individually was Chico State's Tyler Ashman and CSUMB's Simon Bjorken, who each recorded a 11-under-par 205.
The Knights will compete once more before the Pacific West Conference Tournament, as they'll stop by the Hot Dirt Classic in Goodyear, Ariz. starting on Apr. 5 at the Golf Club of Estrella.
